James Allbee with Metro Intelligence Agency talked with FOX31 – Denver about the advantages to Denver Police Departments “creepy looking newest member”. The new addition is a piece of technology, has four legs, electricity, and programmed (trained), for very specific assignments within the department. Denver Police Department “unleased” their new robotic dog that will be used as a risk assessment tool to help identify hazards, threats, and further communication that could otherwise require hands on officer involvement. Miami-Dade has named their robotic dog “Spot”. Planned uses will be to maintain a safe distance when inspecting and removing suspicious or explosive items, conducting a preliminary search of a building with a search warrant, or inspecting where there may be hazardous materials.
